    Izbica was considered a safe place for Kosovo Albanians from neighbouring areas to take refuge, partly because of the KLA presence. During the NATO Bombing thousands of Kosovo Albanians from the Drenica region had gathered in Izbica. Serbian security forces entered the area ordered the woman and children to go to Albania, then lined up the men and executed them.
