On August 18, 2008, a patrol of French soldiers was ambushed by the insurgents in Uzbeen Valley. 10 soldiers were killed as well as one of their translator. Commander Farooki who is part of the Emirati Islami gathering the taliban, the Hezb-i-Islami, the Tora Bora front and Al Qaeda took part in the ambush with his men. As a proof, some of his men are showing two Famas, french arms, that they took from the dead bodies of the soldiers. The total uniform wore by one of the fighter was bought on the bazar. They also gave me the watch of one of the dead soldier who was given back to his family. They are in Al Shing district in Laghman province, a few miles away from Spir Kundey where the attack took part. Their General quarter is only a few metres away in a village. The villages around were then, bombed by NATO air support. 46 civilians were killed and hundreds of villagers had to left their destroyed homes to a refugee camp.

Abdul Mudan, six months old, arrived with his family a few days ago, in a miserable camp for the internally displaced people on the outskirts of the capital of Laghman Metharlam. Like the others, he must sleep on the ground because everything was buried in their Garouch house.
The camp has no access to drinking water, sanitation, electricity and is about ten kilometers from the city in the middle of the desert. The government promised them financial compensation, $ 2,000 for the families of the deceased and $ 1,000 for the seriously wounded. Meanwhile, they have nothing and cruelly lack of everything.
